Make sure drainage grates are cleared

A heavy downpour during a thunderstorm contributed to flooding this basement through the garage at the bottom of a sloped driveway. The drainage grate in front of the garage was clogged with debris . The water pooled in front of the garage and made its way into the basement . The water seeped up into the walls of the finished basement and needed to be removed 2 feet up in the affected areas.  Drying equipment such as dehumidifiers and air movers were setup to expedite the drying process and treated with antimicrobial chemicals after drying was complete.The homeowners were alerted and informed to keep the drainage grate clean and clear to prevent any further instances of flooding.
