Make sure you have summer fun, not flooding!

Now that Spring has arrived, even though some may say it’s too early, we can’t stop thinking about Summer over here at SERVPRO of White Plains & New Rochelle. However, with the beautiful weather and all the fun that it brings, there is also the increased risk of unexpected water damages. For example, one of the most relaxing things to do on a hot Summer day is take a long swim by ourselves or with our loved ones in our pools. While it might be all fun in the sun, if you don’t take the proper preventative measures, it can end up as a not so fun water damage in your home. Here are some tips to make sure your fun summer day swim doesn’t turn into a disaster for your home:

• Ensure that you winterize your pool properly for the off-season.
• Make sure to check for any leaks, cracks or physical damage to the structure of your pool.
• Consistently remove any leaves or other debris from your pool to avoid any clogged filters.
• If you live in an area with heavy rain, make sure that your pool is placed strategically to direct any possible flooding away from your home.
